-
- WELCOME -- to IntelliKey version 1.1! :)
-
-
- ********************************* SETUP ***********************************
-
- IntelliKey is easy to get working and set to your own preferences. Follow
- the steps below.
-
-
- o Move the IntelliKey.config to your S: directory.
- o Note: Do NOT modify IntelliKey.config manually. You should never
- need to, so don't. Use the "config" option on IntelliKey to
- change your config. If you want to add comments into your config
- file, then that's fine. Comments are anything that IntelliKey
- doesn't recognize as a specifier (i.e., opts=.., tries=...). So
- putting "Good evening, folks." in your config file is fine.
- However, putting "mode=This is ...blah blah blah." is NOT fine.
- o Type "IntelliKey config" and set yourself up.
- o Note: For the "mode" entry, normal pertains to a 640x200 screen,
- and lace pertains to a 640x400 screen. I recommend the
- latter.
- o Put the line "IntelliKey" in your Startup-sequence. Placement is
- EXTREMELY crucial!! Place it so it's after "SetClock load >nil:" (or
- whatever it may be), but place it BEFORE the first program that
- outputs or opens its own screen or window. In OS 2.0, the Startup-
- Sequence is unbreakable--immune to ^D--however, it is not bypassable.
- Therefore, put it in the right spot in your Startup-Sequence so that
- IntelliKey is unavoidable, unless of course they bypass the Startup-
- Sequence. I put "IntelliKey" right after IPrefs.
- o Go ahead and reset and try it out!
-
- ********************************* OPTIONS *********************************
-
- This section is an explanation of the options in the config file.
-
- These are all the possible entries you could have in your config file:
- tries=<x>
- mode=<x>
- loglevel=<x>
- passwd=<x>
- col=<x>
- opts=<x>
- ddiv=<x>
- timeout=<x>
- suppassword=<x>
- Where <x> is some argument of some amount of parameters.
- (Again, use "IntelliKey config" to configure! Don't edit S:IntelliKey.config
- manually unless you really know what you're doing.)
-
- TRIES:
- This indicates how many failed attempts before denying access. If you set
- this at 2, for instance, a scene might look like this:
- Enter password: blah
- Wrong, try again.
- Enter password: computer
- Sorry, incorrect. Access denied.
-
- MODE:
- This is the screen mode to use for the IntelliKey screen. Explained above.
-
- LOGLEVEL:
- This is the log level for when people try to give a password to IntelliKey.
- Explained in IntelliKey's config mode.
-
- PASSWD:
- This is your password. It's encrypted, so don't worry about anyone
- checking out your config to find out what your password is.
-
- COL:
- Defines the colors for the IntelliKey screen.
-
- OPTS:
- Various options:
- dim: IntelliKey screen dims as soon as it comes up, and un-dims when a
- key is hit. Prevents monitor burn.
-
- DDIV:
- Defines the darkness divisor. i.e., if ddiv=2, and you have the dim option
- defined, the color values will be divided by 2. A ddiv of 16 would result in
- a completely dark screen.
-
- TIMEOUT:
- This sets the dimmer timeout value. The unit is in ticks, so you'll have
- to experiment. The screen, if not already dim, will dim after <x> ticks.
-
- SUPPASSWORD:
- StartUP password or "config" password. Rather than typing your IntelliKey
- password in order to config, you have two separate passwords. This is to
- avoid problems with having to input a RawMode password to config.
-
- ********************************* SPECIAL *********************************
-
- Special key functions are explained here, along with other things.
-
- Hitting <ESC> will dim the screen. The "dim" option just dims the IK screen
- right away. You can use <ESC> to do it manually.
-
- If you hit a non-alpha or non-digit key (anything other than a letter or a
- number), the screen will flash.
- But this pertains to non-raw mode. Starting with version 1.1, IntelliKey
- supports raw passwords, which may consist of ANYTHING on your keyboard, even
- mouse buttons. Your password could be something like: hold down left shift,
- press the middle mouse button twice (if you have one), turn on caps lock, hit
- F3, turn off caps lock, release left shift. HOWEVER!! You can NOT hold down
- all keys. If you do, they will repeat. See the file "raw.table" to find out
- which keys repeat when held down and which don't. This is important.

-
- IntelliKey 1.1 is ShareWare! I've spent countless hours staying up late
- perfecting this thing. All I ask for is a mere donation of $10 to $20. You
- don't have to, of course. But I'd really really appreciate it, and it would
- give me incentive to develop more things.
- You can send checks or money orders. Make checks out to "Sam Hulick," not
- Vallen Software.
-
- Again, I emphasize that you send me any suggestions or anything at all, and
- I'll try my very best to implement it.
